A global energy storage phenomenon

Tesla has changed the entire energy storage landscape. There are now a total of 50 lithium-ion battery mega factories in the pipeline around the world. Expansions have been focused in Asia, particularly in China, however we are beginning to see the start of rapidly growing battery demand in Europe, as well as North America. These mega factories alone will change the shape of the energy storage market over the next 5-10 years. Only a fraction of these expansions need to be successful to completely change the shape of the graphite/anode market. As a key anode material, it is estimated the demand for natural flake graphite will reach 1.5 million tonnes a year, just for mega factory capacity.

AMC Mining Consultants of Canada have identified 43 sites ready to start production with the capacity of approx. 5,000 tonnes of graphite per year per site minimum.

Manufacturing Economics

Processing of hard rock ore begins by trucking the ore to a crusher. Crushing must be done to release the flake from the enclosing country rock. Reduced ore is then fed to a mill where the ore is crushed further. Milling may be done in a water slurry.
At this point, the individual flakes have been freed from the enclosing ore rock.

In-line with independently verified costs at a comparable operation in Sri Lanka
Upgrading costs of $500 per tonne
Corporate and G&A expenses equal to 5% of gross revenue
Royalty payments equal to 5.0% of gross revenue, paid to the Government of
Sri Lanka and 2 to 10% net to landowners
Initial Capex of $2 MM and sustaining Opex of $0.5MM thereafter per site
Off-take price of $ 1,800 to $2,500 per tonne of raw Sri Lankan graphite and $5000 to $5500 upgraded battery marketable graphite.
